What do you remember about learning how to read?

I cant recall exactly how I learned how to read but I do know how I started. It was back in kindergarten and I wasn’t a pro reader but my teacher would always read is these children books and naturally I would just catch on and understand how she was reading and pronouncing all the words right. As time went on though I’ve never been a big fan of books I never liked or that I was never Interested in. If I’m not interested I would always doze off or not remember what I read and that was always a big struggle for me. So a way that helped me a lot was just to read everything out loud or hearing it read through audio as I follow along. Just hearing through my hears allowed me to actually understand what I was reading and have a better memory of the story or book. So I think that’s why I learned a lot faster when my kindergarten teacher would read out loud to us. One thing I need to start doing more of though is read at least 20 mins a day, my teachers always told me to do it but I just never listened and I do regret it. Cause reading helps a lot with learning new words and there meanings really does expand your vocabulary immensely.
